Commemorations

On the 15th of October every year since 1970, families, friends and workmates of the 35 dead and 18 injured workers gather at the site to remember them.

On 15th October 2000 the 30th Anniversary of the collapse of the bridge, people gathered at the site, below the Bridge, to commemorate the disaster. Distinguished guests included the Premier and Member of Parliament for Williamstown, Mr Steve Bracks, Minister for Transport, Peter Batchelor and ACTU President, Sharon Burrows. Jim O'Neill, although very ill, attended.
